Iranian ‘180° Rule’ to vie at Istanbul filmfest

Iranian feature ‘180° Rule’ is to vie at the Istanbul filmfest in Turkey.

Iranian feature ‘180° Rule’ has been selected to compete at the Istanbul Film Festival, one of the major cinematic events in Turkey.

Directed by Farnoush Samadi, the movie will compete at the 40th edition of the Turkish event.

“Sara and her husband Hamed and their little daughter have been invited to a wedding in north of Iran, but Hamed cannot travel due to work-related problems and this is the beginning of an incident that changes Sara’s life,” a synopsis of the film reads.

The film is starring Sahar Dolatshahi, Pejman Jamshidi, Azita Hajian, and Hassan Pourshirazi.

‘180° Rule’ has so far won a number of awards at some global events, including the 2020 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada and the 2020 edition of the Valladolid International Film Festival in Spain.

It is currently competing at the Borderlines Film Festival in the UK and will soon vie at the Hong Kong International Film Festival.

The aim of the Istanbul Film Festival is to encourage the development of cinema in Turkey and to promote the commercial distribution of films of quality in the Turkish market, the website of the event reads.

The 40th Istanbul Film Festival will take place on April 2-June 29, 2021.
